INFO + PREFERENCES

Background.

Harry Mason was a single father and novelist who took his seven year-old daughter Cheryl on a vacation to the resort town of Silent Hill. On the night they were driving into town, a girl suddenly appeared in the middle of the road, causing Harry to lose control of his car. When he regained consciousness, he discovered that Cheryl was missing and Silent Hill, once an ordinary town, had become abandoned and seeped in otherworldly fog. What followed was a desperate, nightmarish search that took Harry through Silent Hill and into the path of grotesque monsters, an apocalyptic cult, and a mysterious girl with psychic powers named Alessa Gillespie, all of which were tied not only to Cheryl's disappearance but the nature of her very existence.

Personality.

Harry's easygoing nature is best exemplified by his writerly ambitions: he's not arrogant enough to believe he's the next Stephen King, but Dean Koontz? Now that's a star he can shoot for. He's affable, compassionate, and reasonable, and he has a strong moral compass that has remained (mostly) intact despite the extreme horror and loss he's endured in a relatively short period of time. That doesn’t mean he’s a pushover by any means, though. Beneath the sweet and slightly scatterbrained surface is a fiercely headstrong man with a stubborn streak ten miles long and zero qualms with going to hell and back to protect his family, no matter the cost to his body and soul.

First Impressions.

Visual. 6'0", with a slim but sturdy build, short tousled brown hair that he prefers to wear slicked back, and blue eyes. Early to mid thirties (32 at the start of SH1). Round-faced, blandly ordinary. Still somehow manages to pull off looking boyishly handsome whenever he gets excited, or childishly petulant whenever he's annoyed.

Clothing. Dark academia filtered through the Old Navy fall fashion catalog: lots of jeans, sweaters, dark browns and blacks and earth tones, people, earth tones. Usually wears a leather jacket. There's a sense that he once tried to pull off the rock star writer look for two minutes before he realized he doesn't make enough money to afford it. Wears prescription glasses, though not nearly as often as he should. Still wears his wedding band on his left hand.

Demeanor. Kindhearted, empathetic, and oh-so incredibly guarded. The sort of person you could open up to and share all your secrets with before realizing months later that he's never actually told you anything about himself. Awkwardly endearing when he's trying to look cool. Surprisingly cheeky and, at worst, a bit of a smartass; his daughter had to learn it from somewhere.

Aural. Lewis Pullman's voice combined with Michael Guinn's weird dreamy cadence.

Preferences.

Contact. PMs. Discord available on request.

Canon point. Varies. Generally post-game, Good+ Ending. I like to play him pre-SH3 by at least a decade.

Format. Present tense with brackets is my go-to because I find threads go quicker that way, but I'm happy to switch it up and match whatever your preference is.

Permissions.

Off-limits. Nothing comes to mind!

Fourth-walling. Pass.

Violence, injuries. Yes, always, no permission necessary.

Assumed CR, cross-canon. Yes please! He works well with other horror and horror adjacent characters, but I'm more or less open to anyone and anything. If I don't know your canon, I'm happy to learn about it.

Shipping. Always open to it, but you'll have your work cut out for you. As a consequence of everything he's endured in Silent Hill and the life he now lives on the run with his daughter, Harry deliberately keeps others at an emotional distance. You'll probably be the one doing all the chasing until he feels comfortable enough to drop his guard and start opening up to you. (Translation: I love slow-burn.)

Smut. I'm down, but it depends on the character and dynamic, so ask beforehand. I like my smut with plot, but I'm also open to doing one-off FWB stuff too. Super flexible with writing it out or doing fade-to-black, your choice.

CONTENT WARNINGS: Silent Hill is a survival horror game rife with explicit visceral horror and disturbing content: occult horror, child abuse, drug addiction, medical trauma, and religious trauma all feature into the first game's plot. As for Harry himself, he's pretty unproblematic and not much in the way of a raging dumpster fire compared to most Silent Hill Men™ but his internal dialogue may include mentions of child abandonment and death as he tries to sort out his complex feelings regarding his adopted daughter Cheryl Heather.
